CHRC - Croydon
Hearing Resource Centre
Croydon Hearing Resource Centre (CHRC) is a member of
the COESI Consortium of local organisations providing services for people with
sensory and physical impairments.
CHRC is a community service supporting the hearing
impaired residents of Croydon and South London and their families. The charity has been established for over 29
years and its primary aims are to provide on-going practical and emotional
support through a range of services to help people with a hearing sensory
loss.
Although CHRC is an adult service and the main client
group is older people, however through our collaboration with other local
charities involved in sensory loss (including the Croydon Deaf Children’s
Society) we offer a cradle to grave service for people with a range of needs.
CHRC provides information and actual support to people
using hearing aids by giving basic maintenance, re-tubing and supplying hearing
aid batteries. We do home visits and hearing screenings, and work with an
organisation for visual impairments providing joint surgeries for people
developing dual sensory loss.
CHRC also provides assessments for environmental
equipment on loan from Social Services and MEWS (mobile ear wax removal service
to remove impacted wax through micro suction and irrigation in care homes and
the housebound.
